Norma as a child

Yes, I'm pulling the wagon. Behind me is the parsonage where we lived right next to the church.

I was born Norma Jean Seaquist in Britt, Iowa, the town where my mother grew up. Most summer vacations we drove to Britt during the town festival, Hobo Day. When we arrived, someone was sure to say, "Here come the Hobos." We moved to Dresser, Wisconsin before I had my first birthday because my father finished school and became the pastor of a little country church.

That makes me a P.K. You guessed it.
A preacher's kid.

I was going into grade three when we moved to Alberta, Canada. We had a new baby brother making the long trip with us. Most every year we lived in Alberta we took our tent and camped in the mountains between the big national parks, Banff and Jasper.

Later we moved to North Dakota where I graduated from Rutland High School. My family moved to Nebraska that year, but I took a train to St. Paul to attend college. I graduated from Bethel College and have a B.S. in secondary education (social studies) from the University of Minnesota.
